MEETING -- Wednesday, January 21,
2009 - AGENDA
What Is the Redwood Health Information Collaborative?
The Collaborative was originally a community-based steering committee
formed to help create a sustainable local health information exchange
in the rural, sparsely populated Lake and Mendocino county region of
Northern California. The steering committee was initiated in 2005 by
an InformationLinks
grant from the Robert
Wood Johnson Foundation to the Mendocino
County Department of Public Health. The specific focus of the
grant was to enable Public Health to participate in and benefit from
a local health information exchange.
The work products developed by the Collaborative are
listed below. After completing its work in 2007, the Collaborative
decided to continue meeting to conduct an ongoing investigation of
health information exchange opportunities in the Mendocino region.
The Collaborative is now led jointly by the Mendocino County
Department of Public Health and
Redwood MedNet, a
community-based non-profit Health Information Exchange. Redwood
MedNet operates an electronic
clinical
results delivery service for all local healthcare providers.
The monthly meetings
hosted by the Collaborative are open to the public. The meetings
provide presentations from regional and national experts in health
information technology. All participants are welcome, as are visitors
from other health information exchange projects throughout California.
